There are two types of perlite: pearlite and obsidian. Did you know their properties are completely opposite?
Most of the perlite sold at home centers is likely pearlite, which is inexpensive and affordable.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━
● Even with perlite, the properties are opposite, so please read the following features(^^)

〈Pearlite Perlite〉
- The surface of the grains is rough, so it has water retention.
Pearlite is often from China.

〈Obsidian Perlite〉← This product
- Water does not penetrate the core of the grains, so it has drainage. Suitable for purposes where soil drainage is desired.
Obsidian is mined in Nagano and Hokkaido, so most of it is domestically produced.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━

This is an inorganic, ultra-lightweight soil amendment material made by firing obsidian at high temperatures above 1,000°C.
It has dissolved oxygen capacity and is highly effective in controlling moisture, such as improving soil permeability and aeration.
Particle size: 4F (φ3-5mm)
- Drainage
- Lightweight
- Heat retention/insulation effect
- Minimum necessary water retention (less hollow space compared to pearlite)
- Aeration
- Prevents root rot (becomes mineral water due to the effect of obsidian)

We also have hard Hyuga soil (fine/small grain), domestic hard zeolite, and hard Akamatsuchi soil (fine/small grain)!
