Description
Thank you for viewing.
This is an AEONイオン New Year's commemorative item, a plate featuring the zodiac sign of the Rooster.
The Rooster is depicted on an auspicious hexagonal base.
In Japan, the hexagon is considered an auspicious motif symbolizing longevity, good fortune, stability, and harmony. It is often found in nature, such as in turtle shells, beehives, and snowflakes, and due to its stable structure, it is also thought to represent good luck and development.
The Rooster (酉) is a sacred animal mentioned in the Kojiki (Records of Ancient Matters) as having made the sound of the eternal long-crowing rooster, a messenger of the gods, which led Amaterasu Omikami, who had hidden herself in the Ama-no-Iwato cave, to come out.
Therefore, it has been revered since ancient times as a symbol of a new era and new beginnings, and also as a symbol of business prosperity due to the wordplay of Rooster (酉) sounding like to take in (取り込む).
Even today, in the Kanto region, a festival called Tori no Ichi is held to pray for business prosperity, inspired by this.
