At our wedding, we actually put the couple's rings inside the padlock and had the ring bearer bring it.
We considered a scenario where the groom would keep the key in his breast pocket with his boutonniere and open it there, but
since we had twins, we also gave the other child a key.

To prevent them from losing the keys, as they are both small,
we attached pearl-like straps, similar to those used for smartphone straps, to each of them.
We also used it as a ring pillow. For photos, we used real rings, but for the actual ceremony, we attached fake rings.
