This is a set of a large tray (hirobuta) and a celebratory tray (shugibon) made of natural wood.

A hirobuta is used to place documents, such as a marriage proposal list, when giving formal gifts or during engagement ceremonies.
Hirobuta are typically black lacquered with a gold family crest in the center.

Originally, the hirobuta was the lid of a clothing box, used when presenting clothes. Later, it was made into a tray shape to hold items like wedding favors.

Used only once for an engagement ceremony.
No noticeable scratches or damage are apparent.
