Hotaru Glass beads are hollow glass beads made using a forming technique called burner work, similar to Tonbo Dama (dragonfly glass).
Artisans individually melt colored glass, shape it around an iron core, and layer silver leaf onto the molten glass, which is in a state like thick syrup. They then use a special technique to create beautiful colors.
