Shingon Buddhism
With Dainichi Nyorai as the principal Buddha, it aims for instant Buddhahood through the power of the three mysteries: the physical mystery (shinmitsu) of forming mudras, the vocal mystery (kumitsu) of chanting mantras, and the mental mystery (imitsu) of contemplating the principal image in the mind.
In the early 9th century, Kūkai, who traveled to Tang China, learned Esoteric Buddhism from Huiguo and established a sect upon his return.
