The Shitan-Zai Kyo no Ume is a luxurious, domestically produced Aizu ihai made from Shitan, an extremely hard and durable tropical wood. Each piece is carefully finished by skilled artisans in Aizu Wakamatsu. The lustrous and transparent sheen, created by layering Suki-urushi lacquer, enhances the beautiful grain of the Shitan wood. The gold adorning the edges of the ihai is genuine gold powder from Kanazawa. This is a masterpiece befitting the representation of the departed's spirit, which will be enshrined for many years.
