Shell-filled beanbags, Taisho to early Showa period, doll, antique

10.00 $
Description
I brought this home from an antique shop quite some time ago.
I believe it's a traditional Japanese beanbag toy, likely from the Taisho to early Showa period.
The clothing and faces appear to be made of silk.
I found one without a face, so I unraveled it to see what was inside, and discovered it was filled with many small seashells.
It makes a rattling sound, a truly charming beanbag toy.

As these are old items, there are some loose threads on the clothing, dirt on the faces, and small fragments of shell or powder occasionally falling out from the clothing.
I kept them displayed on plates, so it wasn't a major concern for me.
One of the pink ones had a face that was about to come off, so I lightly stitched it.

They are old, but full of character.
I've been accumulating more and more items like these.
I can't bring myself to discard them when I think about who might have played with them and how much fun the beanbag toys must have had.
I'm listing them in the hope that someone will cherish them going forward.

Approximately 6cm when placed flat.
