Daiwa Carbon Whisker Direct Power Oshima No. 1 5.3m
Purchased new at a fishing tackle store about 30 years ago, I have used this rod as my main rod since I was young.
Although it is a No. 1 size, its power is immense. It has landed countless large fish, including black sea bream and rockfish, as well as groupers over 50cm and bigfin reef squid up to 2.7kg.
It can be used without any problems. In terms of usability, there are no points that have deteriorated compared to when it was new. It can be easily cast not only for float fishing but also for targeting bigfin reef squid using medium-sized horse mackerel as bait, without worrying about it breaking.
It is proudly made in Japan and, despite its length, is incredibly light. You won't get tired even after using it all day.
As shown in the last photo, I have another identical rod as a spare, and I also have a new, unused GOKYU ISO No. 1 5.3m, which is why I am selling this one.
[Condition]
The exterior has many small scratches and blisters, but there are no deep scratches that would lead to breakage. There are also no linear scratches from sand getting caught.
It has never been broken and has no repair history.
The tip diameter of 1.0mm is thick as per the original specifications of this Oshima rod. It has not been cut down. The thicker tip reduces the worry of accidental breakage and makes it very easy to handle. I believe it is also suitable for beginners.
As it was often placed on a rod stand, the butt end has many scratches and is slightly worn down. However, the butt cap opens properly. It is not seized or stuck due to salt.
In my younger days, I didn't maintain it well, and even after washing, I didn't dry it properly, which resulted in many small scratches and blisters. However, since then, I have taken good care of it, always removing the butt cap after fishing, thoroughly washing all parts with water, and immediately drying them in front of a fan. It has been cleaned, so there is no dirt or odor. It has also been coated with Daiwa's genuine rod wax.
The product includes the rod shown in the photos and the tip cover. It does not come with a rod bag, but rest assured that it will be carefully packed to prevent scratches or breakage during shipping.
The tip of the tip cover originally had a sponge, but it has deteriorated due to age. It has been cleaned and stuffed with tissue.
Thank you for your consideration.
