Okinawan Sanshin - Vintage Synthetic Skin, Oak Neck

This is a Sanshin made with a dignified and heavy oak wood neck and artificial snakeskin made of nylon resin. Highly recommended for those who want to start playing the Sanshin or for beginners. The shape is a style between Makabe and Koyonashiro, seen in vintage instruments.

It has very high strength and durability, and can be used with peace of mind even by those who are not comfortable with real snakeskin. The pattern is also characteristic of the 2000s, making it recommended for those looking for a semi-vintage item.

The wood is likely Aragashi (Quercus serrata), which is hard yet flexible. The shape is Makabe, but the design differs from cheaper models, suggesting it is handmade by Okinawan craftsmen.
The sound has a pleasant mid-to-high frequency peak, similar to Yushiki with nuts.

About Aragashi (Quercus serrata)
A species of the beech family, distributed in Okinawa, the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, and other regions. Due to its hardness, it is used for various purposes such as wooden swords, vehicle materials, machine materials, building materials, and railway ties.

Condition
There are scuffs and weathering due to age, but no major scratches or twisting of the neck, so it can still be used for a long time. The tuning pegs also hold firmly.

Maintenance has been performed, including applying rosin to the tuning pegs, replacing the strings, ito-kake (string ties), and do-maki (body wrap), and cleaning the neck. Therefore, there should be no issues with playability.

Sound
It has a pleasant attack sound that leads to Yushiki with nuts, with a peak in the mid-to-high frequency range. Especially recommended for those who dislike shrill sounds.
