These reeds are made from carefully selected, high-quality reeds from Udono. After approximately 1.5 years of air-drying in the shade, they have been smoked over a traditional Japanese hearth for over 10 years. This process results in a superior product that combines both durability and excellent sound quality. I believe my past reviews will attest to the quality of my reeds.
These reeds are finished with great care, allowing for a comfortable playing experience. While they are made to fit the thickness of my own preferred Hichiriki, they are generally compatible with any Hichiriki, including those with plastic tubes.
They are finished to be playable immediately, even for beginners and women. However, please be aware that they do not produce sound with a light breath. To achieve a good resonance, it is important to blow with full breath. While the price per reed may seem a bit high, I am confident you will be satisfied. If you are not satisfied, I will accept returns or exchanges. Please try one for yourself.
As a supplementary note, even with the finest instruments and materials, without sufficient skill and technique, it is impossible to create truly exceptional reeds! While a reed may be shaped to a certain extent, the nuances of making it playable, such as adjustments for tightness or looseness, can be challenging. Poorly fitted reeds are a common reason for difficulty in playing. Furthermore, while it's said that reeds need to be nurtured to become playable, reeds made from poor quality raw material or those that are only air-dried and still close to raw will not last long, based on my experience.
