The Lacquered Ryomaki Black (Red Binding) is a beautiful shinobue with a striking contrast between black and red. It is made from excellent bamboo aged for about 5 years, coated with black synthetic lacquer, and features red vinyl bindings on the head and mouthpiece. The lacquer process involves thinly peeling off the outer layer of the bamboo, preparing the base, and then carefully applying the color by artisans. The interior is also finished with synthetic lacquer. This masterpiece, which was revived in 2015 after a 30-year hiatus, boasts enduring popularity.
