Flute case, Noh flute case, possibly Ikkabari, lacquered, Karatsuke
This is a flute case for a Nohkan, likely lacquered using techniques similar to Tsugaru-nuri.
It might be Ikkabari, but it could also be wood coated with lacquer.
It is definitely not a lacquer-look print on a plastic case. For reference, I've included a photo comparing it to a plastic case.
Nohkan cases made with Ikkabari are rare and valuable, even on the used market.
If it is Ikkabari, you're lucky!
Even if it's not Ikkabari, a lacquered finish like this is not commonly found.
Seen from a distance, the intricate pattern transforms into a solemn radiance, making it a piece that, while not the main focus, will shine on stage.
It would look wonderful peeking out from a hakama!
It's a bit too flashy for me, and I don't have many opportunities to use it,
so I'm listing it with some hesitation.
Returns will not be accepted for any reason.
Please ask any questions or voice any concerns before purchasing.
If you are not satisfied, please relist it yourself and pass it on to the next person.
Note:
The Ransho flute listed separately will not fit in this case (the tube is partially wider than the inner diameter of the case, getting stuck around the middle section).
This case is suitable for thinner flutes with a maximum diameter of approximately 26mm at the widest point.
