85 Large, Excellent Sound - Japanese Bamboo Flute - Shinobue - Classical Six-Hole Roku-hon Choshi - Negishi Shinobue Kobo

66.00 $
Description
This instrument is made to the same specifications as the Shishida and Maruyama shinobue.

This instrument produces good sound, especially in the higher registers.

As natural materials are used and it is handmade, there may be natural variations in shape, pattern, curvature, and minor scratches.

The volume (which can be quite piercing) and tone quality are superior to a shinobue.

I have been researching physics for a long time and have succeeded in selecting materials that are easy to play and produce a beautiful sound.

I discovered that only bamboo that meets certain conditions will produce sound from the tube itself.

Thickness: Approximately 21mm near the mouthpiece.
Length: Approximately 40.4cm.
Mouthpiece size: Approximately 14.5mm.
Bamboo hardness: Medium.
Thickness: Slightly thicker than average.
Pitch: Approximately 6.5 to just under 7 hon.
Range: The sound resonates beautifully from the lowest note to the 5th higher octave note.

This instrument is made based on the standard fingerings and techniques for general shinobue. Please note that regional variations in special fingerings and higher octave techniques may exist. We recommend confirming these in the comments.

What is Wa-fue?
Wa-fue is a transverse flute that has been made by flute makers in Kyoto since the Heian period and passed down throughout the country.
The traditional form of hayashi (festival music) and satokagura (local Shinto shrine music), which are designated as intangible cultural assets, is wa-fue (bamboo flute). (It is a Japanese indigenous transverse flute.)
Characteristics:
It is characterized by the presence of nodes in bamboo such as madake and awadake. It is also called a bamboo flute.
It reached its peak from the mid-Edo period to the Meiji period and spread throughout the country, where it was used in local hayashi and satokagura.
However, it declined from the end of the Meiji period to the Showa period. Around this time, the Shishida brand shinobue became widespread throughout the country, and the wa-fue, which was difficult to play and expensive, seems to have lost out to the shinobue.

The origin of wa-fue (bamboo flute) is in Kyoto, and the origin of shinobue is in Tokyo. (Kyoto's bamboo flute, Edo's shinobue) (Dragon's bamboo flute, Lion's shinobue)

There appear to be only a few wa-fue craftsmen nationwide. (As it is extremely difficult to make, very few craftsmen can both play and produce them.)
They seem to be quite expensive (around 50,000 yen).
We strive to produce wa-fue that are as easy to play and produce a beautiful sound as possible, at an affordable price.
Please note that price reductions are not possible.
