From Saturday, April 25, 2026, to Sunday, June 21, 2026, the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts will host the 90th Anniversary Special Exhibition Full Power! Masterpiece Stories - Episodes of Art Traced Through the Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts.
The Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts, which opened in 1936 (Showa 11), will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2026 (Reiwa 8).
As the third oldest public museum in Japan, our museum continues to thrive in Osaka after undergoing extensive renovations. History is preserved and becomes the foundation for the future. It then unfolds into stories, passed down through generations in various forms. Art, on the other hand, not only depicts these stories but also visually transmits the spirit of the times and the people.
The history of a museum is eloquently told by the artworks themselves, which form its core.
To commemorate our 90th anniversary, this exhibition will showcase numerous masterpieces from our collection and on loan, presenting stories woven around the museum, stories entrusted to art, and the story of art's creation and its future prospects.
