I commissioned this from a vise craftsman about 25 years ago after seeing the fine grain and quality of the Yakusugi wood.
It features accents of deer antler, sharkskin, and mother-of-pearl, and the unique oil from the Yakusugi wood is also seeping out.
I hope you can see the dense, fine grain in the photos.
