AKAI APC40 MKII Controller

The Akai APC40 MKII is a legendary hardware controller for Ableton Live users.
It remains incredibly popular as a tool that frees you from mouse operation, enabling intuitive music production and live performance as if playing an instrument.
1. Perfect Compatibility with Ableton Live
The biggest feature of this unit is that no mapping (setup) is required.
• Plug-and-Play: Simply connect to your PC via USB, and it synchronizes perfectly with the Ableton Live screen.
• 5x8 Clip Launch Matrix: Equipped with 40 pads that work in conjunction with the on-screen clips. It supports multi-color (RGB), so the same color as the screen lights up in your hands, providing excellent visibility.
2. Layout Optimized for Operability
Improved from the first model based on feedback, the MKII has a more musical layout.
• 9 Faders: In addition to controlling the volume of each track, it also includes a master fader.
• 8 Device Control Knobs: Instantly control parameters of selected effects and synths.
• A/B Crossfader: Enables DJ-style mixing. This is crucial for the groove in live performances.

As of 2026, it is very popular in the used market, but the appearance of successor models and changes in the environment (such as compatibility with Apple Silicon) are points of interest. Basically, it uses standard MIDI specifications, so it can be used for a long time, but it may be becoming difficult to obtain new.
