On February 15th, I went to Komatsu Watasen in Kushimoto.
Komatsu Watasen is great because the captain is a really good person and you can reserve fishing spots.
Since there were still small fish biting, it was a good decision to bring bait-eating powder this time.
From the morning, I saw five black sea bream between 45 and 50 cm near the shore, so I thought it would be a good day, but it didn't go as planned. My main rod broke early in the morning, and I lost so many big ones that my spirit was broken too. If my rod hadn't broken, I wouldn't have been able to catch the big ones. Well, in the end, I caught five fish between 26 and 37 cm. I used a lot of Red Carpet, switched from size 6 hooks to size 4, and used 3-pound leader line. I hooked over 10 big ones but only landed 0. I could land a 50cm rockfish because it runs sideways, but I couldn't pull up the big black sea bream that dove into the submerged rocks.
Using Red Carpet in the dead of winter is very effective. The key to mixing it is to first let the Red Carpet soak up the smell of krill. This enhances its fish-attracting effect. When there are many bait-stealing fish, mixing in Red Carpet afterwards, trying not to mix in too much krill smell, doesn't have much of a fish-attracting effect but acts as a visual deterrent.
The mixing ratio is about 2 to 4 kg of bran for 3 kg of krill, and about 3 to 5 kg of Red Carpet. It's easy to use the bait-eating powder by scooping it with your hand. It's better not to mix it in from the beginning.
The downside of Red Carpet is that it's heavy enough to break your spirit. It has many advantages. First, the chum clumps together without breadcrumbs (if it's too loose, add a little breadcrumbs), allowing for super long-distance casting and synchronization of chum and bait. You might think I'm joking, but using Red Carpet creates an incredible smoke screen with the chum that envelops the bait, which is truly amazing. It's very effective against fish that are wary of leader line and hooks.
For black sea bream and other fish, it makes it easier for them to take the bait into their mouths. This allows you to use a thicker leader line and hook by one size.
I felt it was revolutionary. It also helps you understand bottom currents, double currents, and surface wind currents.
There are so many patterns.
The cloudiness is from the smell of krill (lol).
Experience this cloudiness and weight (lol).
There's a world you don't know in this chum (lol).
