Vintage Japanese Dragonware Teapot - Blue Moriage Raised Dragon Porcelain
N/A
Add a striking piece of mid-century Asian ceramic art to your collection! This vintage Japanese Dragonware teapot features a sky-blue body with a hand-painted golden dragon weaving through wispy clouds. The dragon features traditional raised moriage work, giving the artwork a tactile 3D texture. The rim, handle, spout, and lid are accented with bright gold gilding. The bottom is unmarked, common for mid-20th-century Japanese porcelain imports intended for the Western market. Condition: Exterior: The blue finish and colorful details are clean and vibrant. The gold trim displays beautiful luster with minimal shelf wear. Interior: Features a built-in multi-hole ceramic strainer. The interior displays light, authentic tea staining from historic use, but the porcelain remains smooth and fully functional. Lid Note: The inner rim of the lid has a small chip on the underside edge. The lid has also undergone a previous professional restoration; a fine hairline fracture was expertly mended. It is invisible to the naked eye and can only be detected under close magnification or by feeling the slight surface seam. The lid fits securely and holds together perfectly. Please see the high-magnification photos for a detailed view of the lid rim and repair line. Measurements: Standard full-sized teapot. Perfect statement piece for a display shelf, mantle, or china cabinet!
