Lovely example of the hybrid of French Country and Mid Century Modern trend of service baskets made of woven metal that replicated French weaving techniques, shapes, and styles in the later part of the mid century. These service baskets were made of silverized metals like steel, brass, or copper and were popular as bread baskets for the table, to keep fruit in on the counter and as display baskets. This 9.5 x 12 sturdy double handled basket is still fully able to do all of that.
