Vintage Westclox 17 Jewel Restomod Watch – Morioka Japan Y481C Quartz – Running

Vintage Westclox Restomod – Japanese Quartz Conversion  A unique vintage Westclox dress watch that combines an original mid-century look with the convenience and reliability of Japanese quartz.  This watch retains its vintage Westclox 17 Jewels dial, hands, rectangular gold-tone case and crystal, but the original mechanical movement has been replaced with a Morioka Tokei Inc. Y481C quartz movement, made in Japan.  The conversion was nicely executed, with the quartz movement securely fitted into the original rectangular case using a movement spacer.  The aged cream/champagne dial has wonderful vintage character, featuring applied gold-tone hour markers and Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9. The dial shows natural age and patina appropriate for a vintage watch.  The rectangular gold-tone case also shows age, including finish wear and plating loss around portions of the case and lugs. I have intentionally left the vintage exterior as-is rather than attempting to refinish it.  Currently fitted with a brown leather-style strap that suits the vintage dress-watch appearance very well.  Movement: Morioka Tokei Inc.
