Antique World War I Ornate Gold Tone Oval Wall Mirror Ribbon Brass

Vintage oval wall mirror with a Brass frame and ribbon bow detail at the top. Would originally hold convex glass set within the gilt frame crowned by a cast ribbon motif. Theis frame would have held portraits which were commissioned during the first world war and in its immediate aftermath as memorial or honorific keepsakes. The gilt frame distinguish this example as a more formal presentation piece compared to simpler wood or gesso frames of the period. This item is over 100 years old. Please refer to photos for condition and details. Still mounts and functions as a mirror with plenty of life left in it. Good pick if you want that worn, antique look without paying antique prices.
