Description
Vintage travel souvenir brooch from the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This dimensional silver-tone design depicts a downhill skier with poles traveling across layered skis, with raised “WHITE MTS N.H.” lettering incorporated along the front ski. The reverse has a hinged pin stem and locking clasp. The White Mountains became central to New England ski culture during the 1930s, when new downhill trails were developed and nearby Cannon Mountain gained North America’s first passenger aerial tramway in 1938.
