I took a break from flamenco for a while, and when I decided to resume, I noticed a musty smell. I sent the shoes for cleaning, but the musty smell could not be completely removed. I have been using them about once a week for approximately 3 months since the cleaning.
The shoes themselves still seem usable. I am selling them because they no longer fit my feet (they have become too tight). I wore these shoes when my foot size was 24.5 cm. I now wear a size 25 cm and they feel a little tight.
