Unused Maru Obi fabric, likely pre-war 1930s, set of 2
1930s? Vintage Japanese Kimono Textile
This is an old item.
A very rare, unsewn Maru Obi bolt.
One bolt can be used to create both a Nagoya obi and a Hanhaba obi.
Also suitable for remakes.
Approximately 70cm wide. The length has not been measured as it is large. I can measure it if necessary, but please allow some time.
If it doesn't sell for a while, I'm considering having it tailored into a Nagoya obi and a Hanhaba obi myself.
Left in the photo: The lighter gold one.
If tailored, it can be used as a summer obi even today. It's lighter because it's thin.
There are some faint stains, but I feel it can be worn after cleaning and tailoring (this is my subjective opinion as a vintage collector).
Right in the photo: The striped one.
It's heavy, like a tapestry. As shown in the photo, there is one large stain, but otherwise, there don't seem to be any major stains.
If cleaned and made into a Nagoya obi without lining or interlining, it seems wearable. It looks heavy, though.
It would be a waste for it to remain unused, so I would be happy if it could be passed on to someone who likes it.
As this is a long piece of fabric, I am considering how to pack it for shipping.
I do not have specialized packing materials on hand, so I will use recycled packing materials for shipping.
