Great Highland Bagpipes

This is a vintage item from the mid-1900s.
The bag cover is made of wool
with a beautiful Royal Stewart tartan pattern.
The bag is made of leather (deteriorated).
The pipes are likely made of African Blackwood,
but the actual wood type is unknown.

[Acquisition Route]
This item is a cherished possession of my father, who purchased it at a shop near Loch Ness while driving through the Highland region of Scotland during his studies in the UK.
He brought it back to Japan along with his household belongings via sea freight upon returning from the UK, and it has been stored for a long time.

[Accessories]
- Includes 2 booklets: 1 that came with the instrument upon purchase, and 1 book about bagpipes purchased from Blackwell's (a famous bookstore) in the UK.
(The receipt from this book suggests the instrument was purchased around 1972. This date is in UK format, so it can be interpreted as August 5, 1972, and the signature on the inside cover as September 5.)
- 4 small accessories shown in photo 16 are included.
- No case is included.

[Condition]
- The instrument has never been used for playing and is considered unused. It is currently unknown if it is still functional as a musical instrument.
- The bag appears to be made of leather. However, when the wool cover is lifted, it is covered with a soft white fabric (photo 14). Further lifting reveals a hardened leather surface with whitish spots, which seem to be mold (photo 15). Replacing the bag is likely essential for blowing air. The instrument will be delivered without any amateur cleaning attempts by me.
- There are numerous other signs of age, including discoloration that cannot be removed by dry wiping, minor scratches, some peeling, and stickiness (see photo 13).
- Both accompanying books have numerous stains (see photos 19, 20). Additionally, the buyer's signature written on the inside cover has been cut out (photo 20).
- The box shows signs of age-related wear, such as rust on staples and adhesive residue from tape. However, it is the original box from when the item was brought back to Japan and fits well, so it will be further wrapped and delivered. The area with the signature written on the lid has also been cut out (see photos 17, 18).

It is difficult to convey everything through photos, but please zoom in and take a closer look.

I would be happy if someone could give this item a new home.
