This is a 1-ounce pure silver coin (Sv99.9%) that combines the characteristics of both bullion and collectible silver coins, manufactured and issued by the United States Mint since 1986.

The obverse features Lady Liberty (Walking Liberty) striding forward towards the future, symbolizing the dawn, adorned with the Stars and Stripes and holding laurel and oak branches symbolizing the glory of citizens and the military, based on the design of the 50-cent silver coin used from 1916 to 1947. The reverse depicts the Bald Eagle, the national bird of the United States, on a shield with its emblem. It holds an olive branch in its right talon and arrows in its left, with 13 five-pointed stars reflecting the Great Seal of the United States (Type 1).

Since 2017, a new design (Type 2) by Emily Damstra has been added to the reverse, depicting a Bald Eagle perched on a branch.
