Gibson Les Paul Deluxe 1976 Vintage Good Fretboard
This is a vintage 1976 Gibson Les Paul Deluxe.
It originally came with front and rear mini-humbucker pickups, but the rear pickup has been replaced with a humbucker-sized pickup.
The front pickup is an original Gibson.
The rear pickup is a DiMarzio, and it appears to be an early Super Distortion from the 1970s to 1980s, as it has a silver braided wire shield.
Additionally, the height adjustment screws for the rear pickup are not the correct ones, and the pickup is currently set quite high. You may need to replace the screws to adjust the height after purchase.
The fretboard is so dense and black, it looks like ebony.
The neck has a history of repair.
There are signs of wear, scratches, and dirt consistent with its age.
Much of the dirt may be removable with cleaning, but I have not performed any cleaning.
There is also some crackling when turning the control knobs, which may be improved with contact cleaner.
This listing is for the guitar body only.
The photos show everything included.
Please ask any questions you may have.
This is a valuable guitar, so please consider it with the understanding that some maintenance may be required.
This type of DIMARZIO PICKUPS engraving without MADE IN USA is generally an early specification produced from the late 1970s to around 1980.
Specification Features:
• Engraving Content: Models from the early 1980s onwards typically include MADE IN USA, while earlier ones only have the company name engraved.
• Baseplate Material: A brass baseplate showing signs of tarnish due to age is a common characteristic of DiMarzio pickups from that era.
• Wiring: The braided wire shielding visible in the image was common for vintage-oriented models (like PAFs) and for replacement pickups in Les Pauls of that time.
DiMarzio pickups from this period were produced when models like the Super Distortion and PAF were hugely popular, making them highly sought after as upgrade parts for vintage Gibsons and other guitars.
