wooden ”DARUMA” pazzle//
Kumiki (interlocking wooden puzzle) by Yamanaka Kumiki Kobo.
This craft is based on ancient Japanese joinery techniques that use no nails.
It is a three-dimensional wood puzzle conceived by First, a craftsman specializing in sashimono (traditional Japanese cabinetmaking).
While various motifs were developed over four generations, production has now ceased.
Renowned architects, including Bruno Munari and Sori Yanagi, were captivated by its techniques and structure, leading to its high regard as a Japanese traditional craft both domestically and internationally.
Approximately three types of Daruma were produced. This particular one has a charming, somewhat comical touch with a strong facial presence.
It has a certain resemblance to the characters drawn by Kotobuki Shiriagari.
The bold 福 (fuku - luck/fortune) is also inscribed, making it recommended as a good luck charm. We believe it would also be appreciated by overseas individuals interested in design and architecture.
Also suitable as a celebratory gift for someone close who bears a resemblance.
