Vintage Korean Hanji Paper Boxes Pair Obangsaek Folk Art Geometric Octagonal

Beautiful coordinating pair of vintage Korean Hanji paper craft lidded boxes, featuring colorful hand-applied geometric designs in a traditional Korean-inspired palette. Each octagonal/faceted box is constructed with textured paper in vibrant red, yellow, green and blue with contrasting black borders. Although the boxes coordinate beautifully, each lid features a different intricate geometric center medallion, making the pair especially interesting for display. One box incorporates a traditional manja-style geometric lattice motif, an ancient auspicious design found in Korean Buddhist and decorative arts and historically associated with good fortune, continuity and well-being. The second features a distinctive circular geometric medallion with repeating directional/chevron elements. The richly colored geometric decoration is characteristic of traditional Korean Hanji paper craft, which uses handmade mulberry paper cut and layered over a structural form. Approximate measurements: Each box measures approximately 8 across × 4 tall with lid. Condition: Very good vintage condition, especially considering the age and delicate paper construction. Both boxes remain structurally sound with vibrant colors and intact decorative paperwork. There is minor age-related surface wear, light marks/rubbing and small imperfections, including some wear to the black edging and undersides. Interiors remain exceptionally clean.
