Vintage Traditional Russian Khokhloma Hand Painted Wooden Sugar Bowl Trinket Box

This is a hand-painted wooden traditional Russian Khokhloma sugar bowl. It is a piece of Russian folk art, often considered a collectible item. The characteristic design features vibrant red berries and flowers, black leaves, and scrollwork on a gold background. The items are typically made from high-quality wood and finished with a lacquer. According to legend, the style originated when a peasant fed a firebird, which turned his ordinary wooden bowl into a gold one. Would also make a lovely trinket box.
