Pickguard for Framus Hootenanny, 1.5mm thick
Thank you for looking.
I have made a few pickguards for the recently reissued Framus Hootenanny.
I tried fitting the two included pickguards onto the body and compared them with a vintage Framus Hootenanny and John's Framus Hootenanny. However, I was not satisfied with the shape, texture, or thickness, as they felt quite different from the vintage aesthetic. Therefore, I made these pickguards to be as close as possible to John's Framus Hootenanny, while matching the shape of the reissue body.
Key features I focused on:
* The circular line around the soundhole (John's is slightly set in from the outermost edge).
* The line parallel to the body below the waist.
* The screw hole drilled between the 2nd and 3rd strings.
* The line that angles slightly downwards from the bottom of the soundhole towards the bridge.
I experimented to get the closest possible image to John's.
The material of the original pickguards was likely celluloid, but it shrinks and warps. Current materials lack good patterns and colors, and are difficult to work with. Therefore, I chose acrylic for the material.
Thickness is approximately 1.5mm.
I also have 2mm thick ones listed.
The sides are painted white.
This is a handmade item, so it is not finished to a professional standard.
Based on this, you could taper the outer line more, add dummy screws and attach with double-sided tape, or drill 4 holes in the body.
For my part, I drilled 4 holes in the body and attached the pickguard like the vintage ones. When removed, the holes are barely noticeable.
The first image is a photo of the pickguard attached to a guitar.
The last photo is of John's Framus Hootenanny (for comparison).
This listing is for the pickguard only.
