This is a lacquered tea caddy (natsume) made of wood with gold maki-e decoration.
The wood color is a deep chestnut brown.
Beautiful gold bamboo patterns are meticulously applied.
It has only been used once at a tea ceremony, but I am parting with it as I have accumulated too many.
