Description
Founded in 1854, Knowles, Taylor & Knowles grew to become one of the largest and most prominent pottery manufacturers in the United States. Their semi-vitreous ware was highly popular during the late Victorian and Edwardian eras because it offered the delicate, translucent look of fine porcelain but was engineered to be exceptionally durable for everyday home use. Given its shape, this specific piece likely served as a shaving. There is some crazing on the bottom and the gold trim shows some signs of wear.
