Itsukushima Shrine Bugaku Mask - Haremen
26.40 $
Description
This is a mask used in Bugaku, the dance that gave rise to the proverb to repeat the same mistake (literally, to perform the second dance of Ni).
This sickly face mask is said to represent the swollen face of Yoriie, who was exiled to Shuzenji due to a lack of public trust, after being doused in lacquer (some theories say he was placed in a bathtub coated with lacquer).
