Diameter: 14.5 cm
Height: Slightly over 8 cm
Weight: 300g
Appears to be from the Sanuki region, but the workshop is unknown.
This is an unused deadstock item.
Wooden base with colored lacquer and carved grooves, Koma-nuri (spinning top lacquerware) confectionery container.
It has a flat lid and no handle, but is sized so an adult can open it with one hand.
Made from a single piece of wood hollowed out, with a flat interior finish. It could also be used as a chabako (tea caddy) for tea ceremony utensils.
While not perfectly cylindrical, it has a clean, straight-sided profile. It would complement both modern and traditional Japanese interiors.
