2 Antique Bier Cabinet Cards Missouri St Joseph Savannah Maitland Victorian Phot

Bier

Description
Pair of original antique cabinet card photographs from the late 19th century, both bearing the Bier photographer/studio imprint from northwestern Missouri. One portrait features a bearded gentleman mounted on a handsome black cabinet card with gold Bier signature and “Savannah, Mo. / Maitland, Mo.” printed at the lower right. The second features a young woman wearing a floral corsage or bouquet. The mount is signed Bier at lower left and marked “Cor. 6th and Felix, St. Joseph, Mo.” The matching Bier studio name combined with different Missouri locations makes these an especially interesting pair for collectors of regional photography and Missouri history. Approximately 6.5 x 4.25 each. Estimated 1880s–1890s. Original period photographs, not reproductions. Both show expected age-related toning, fading, spotting and edge/corner wear. The gentleman's portrait has noticeable fading, while the black-and-gold mount remains particularly attractive. Please review photographs carefully for exact condition. Great additions to a collection of Victorian photography, cabinet cards, Missouri history, St. Joseph memorabilia, Savannah or Maitland history, genealogy, or antique photographic ephemera.
