I acquired this several years ago at a craft souvenir shop in Akita City. It has been stored in the back of my tea cabinet, and I missed the opportunity to use it. Although it has been stored away, there are no signs of age-related deterioration, so I am listing it for sale.
I understand that this craft originated as a side job for samurai during the Edo period. This Kaba-zaiku (cherry bark craft) is the most substantial, featuring the subdued luster and beautiful sheen of cherry bark. It has undergone multiple polishing processes and is a superb, elegant craft item made with the utmost precision.
This craft is meticulously handmade by artisans, with each step carefully executed. It can be said to be a valuable item that carries on traditional techniques.
I believe it is suitable for entertaining important guests, as well as for everyday use.
Please take it in your hands and see for yourself.
This plate would be most fitting for serving exquisite Japanese sweets.
It does not come with a dedicated box.
