Antique Cocktail Glasses & Goblets & Fruit Hand-Embroidered Trim Ultra-Thin Cloth α

This is an antique French lace cloth decorated with embroidery of motifs such as beautiful cocktail glasses and fruits on a tulle lace trim.

This handmade cocktail cloth, once owned by nobility, can also be used as a very thin, fluffy, sheer handkerchief.

Features 30 relief pieces including cocktail/wine glasses of different sizes, sundae/parfait glasses, (mini) goblets, liqueur glasses, and fruits with leaves.

The impression is of a lace tape made of smooth linen, with motifs outlined and raised in medium-thick hemp thread on a mesh lace, meticulously hand-embroidered as if arranged on a cabinet, shelf, or bar counter.

This is likely handmade Alençon lace or Valenciennes lace, a rare find. It resembles a still life on a dining table, or modern art with white porcelain lined up.

The embroidery is three-dimensional with a raised surface and a relatively flat underside (the bottom two images on the left in the final picture). It is beautiful from either side.

The fabric is very smooth and soft, feeling light and airy as if gently fluttering.

The luxurious texture, with a slight drape, feels like a blend of linen, silk, and cotton. It is a delicate and supple fabric made from very fine threads.

The lovely tone that evokes an antique feel is an elegant ivory, cream ivory, and a slightly darker ecru.

There are no severely noticeable stains or damage, and it is clean. However, there are small fabric holes and very faint yellowing stains that are only visible upon close inspection. It is in good condition for an old, used item, but would be suitable for those who do not mind these minor imperfections.

The owner has home-cleaned it, so it is in a clean state.

It would also be stylish to use as a handkerchief for a wedding dress, pocket square, kimono, or everyday fashion (something old).

Utilize its thinness as a delicate underlay for thin glasses. It can also be used as a cloth to display serene objects such as bisque dolls, Madonnas, or angels. It would also be lovely to arrange pictures, cards, photos, or embroidery works on it and appreciate them like a framed piece.
