Antique Brussels Lace Point de Rose Lace for Cuffs and Collar Pair

A beautiful pair of Belgian antiques.
These are exquisite bobbin lace cuffs, likely from Brussels or Bruges, offered as a set of two.

The texture is more substantial than Honiton lace (which has British roots), and we suspect they might be Duchesse lace.

The delicate, sheer fabric, reminiscent of thin gauze, is beautifully contrasted by the raised, three-dimensional outlines.

The left cuff features three classic point de rose roses, while the right has two. The smaller flowers, resembling primroses arranged in clusters of three or four, might be mini roses or rosettes. The raised veining of the leaves is exquisite, and the entire piece is crafted with graceful curves.

The motifs of flowers and leaves are accented with delicate picot lace, adding to their fine impression.

The color is a soft, gentle, pale ivory with a hint of sepia, possibly acquired over time.

The fabric feels smooth yet crisp, suggesting it's made from high-quality linen yarn, or possibly a blend of linen and cotton.

Upon acquiring these, they appeared to have been washed at least once.

They have been home-cleaned and are in a sanitary condition for this listing.

There are no major, noticeable stains, tears, or rips. However, upon close inspection, there is a small, light brown discoloration on one petal of a rose and on three picot loops along one edge. These are not very conspicuous.

Overall, they are in relatively good condition. We recommend them to those who do not mind these minor imperfections.

Considering their age and the care taken in their creation, we hope they will be cherished and used for many years to come.

They would also be beautiful framed and displayed on a wall.
