Antique Belgian handmade
Beautiful neck adornment, a small jabot.
A tie-like bobbin lace chest piece with a fastener, a decorative collar.

Likely 19th-century Brussels lace,
or Duchesse lace, Point de Rose.

A plump, large single rose and
a six-petaled smaller flower, or a single rose.
Delicate small flowers, leaves with beautiful veining.
The carefully defined outline is elegant.
Made with very fine thread,
a gauze-like openwork mesh feels cool.

Beautiful handmade bobbin lace,
& needle lace.

Small motifs are densely embroidered.
The outer edge is a graceful scalloped shape
with filled-in petals and leaves that flutter.

The knitting technique varies for each petal and vein,
creating subtle differences in density and shading,
with exquisite design and detail.
A delicate, lovely atmosphere.

Rich, deep cream,
with hints of pale butter or grass green,
a deeply antique ivory that has aged beautifully.
A smooth, silky texture,
the thread is imagined to be linen. A light, airy impression.

The back of the neck area is reinforced with ivory silk fabric.
An iron fastener showing verdigris.

Slight fraying at the tips and a faint brown discoloration on the tip of the third vein from the corner of the leaf at the bottom left corner (facing).

The texture suggests it may have been lightly washed after creation.

A wonderful piece that retains its original color, thread quality, and charm.
In relatively good condition for an old piece.

Point de Rose, said to have value equal to or surpassing that of jewels,
was an object of envy and admiration.
It is rare for pieces in good condition to survive to the present day.
