Seto Sometsuke Hibachi - Landscape Painting - Zashiki Hibachi
Featuring a Sansuiga (landscape painting) and arabesque patterns, this is a Seto-yaki (Aichi Prefecture) craft item made in the late Meiji to Taisho periods. Delicate trees and flowers are drawn with a cobalt blue pigment called Gosu. This is a Zashiki Hibachi (medium size), which is slightly larger than a typical Te-aburi Hibachi (hand-warming brazier) and was used as the primary heating source in living rooms.
Place ash and a trivet inside to use as a heating appliance (hand warmer). For disaster preparedness: use as a non-electric heater or for simple cooking during emergencies.
Besides a brazier, it can be used as a cover for potted plants, a water basin/medaka (killifish) tank, or a vase. You can also place a top board to use it as a side table. With its Japanese modern atmosphere, it serves as an accent not only in Japanese-style rooms but also in Western-style rooms.
Diameter: 39.5 cm
Inner Diameter: 29.5 cm
Height: 25 cm
Weight: 10.2 kg
