Vintage Advertising Sewing Ephemera Lot
Multiples
This is a lot of vintage matchbook-style hosiery mending kit from the mid-20th century (c. 1940s–1950s), commonly distributed as promotional or household giveaway items. These are styled similar to paper matchbooks, featuring a fold-over cardboard cover with advertising for local or national brands. The top three hosiery mending kits appear to be un-used. The covers show wear, they are discolored, have some stains and the insides have yellowed with age. The one on the right has denting and a tiny tear. The bottom left is an empty cover that someone put blue thread into, the middle one is missing the needle and has been used and the one on the right appears to be un-used. These three kits show much wear from age with discoloration, stains and yellowing. At the bottom is an empty package that held the 'finest silver eyed sharps' and were made in HongKong. The kits hold assorted pastel and neutral-colored threads along with a small paraffin-based Stop-Run stick (labeled Moisten tab... can't harm, washes out) designed to temporarily halt runs in sheer stockings. Interesting history, great for people who collect matchbook type novelties or vintage sewing items. Sold as is. From a cat friendly smokers home. #132 B12
