This is a genuine hand-thrown studio pottery vase created in 1974 by Michael Metz of Metz Studio in Vancouver, Washington. Michael Metz is a longtime Pacific Northwest artist with over 50 years at the wheel, known for one-of-a-kind ceramics that have been exhibited in galleries throughout the Northwest (including SW Washington and Oregon). His early work, like this piece, emphasizes bold texture and earthy tones, while his later pieces often feature complex crystalline and metallic glazes.
