British Antique Bureau Cabinet / Bookshelf / Glass Display Cabinet / Decorative Shelf / Store Fixture

Thank you for viewing.

This is an antique writing bureau made in England around the 1940s. In the UK, it's called a bureau bookcase and is a very popular item. I believe its popularity stems from its functionality, combining a bookshelf, desk, and chest into one.
The balance between the oak wood grain and texture, and the beautiful decorative elements is excellent, creating a wonderful classical atmosphere.
It's a high-quality piece with a form that makes you want to gaze at it forever.
The deep drawers can store plenty of your favorite books, and the adjustable shelf height makes it a practical and recommended item.
It can be separated into two parts, upper and lower, and each can be used individually.
It can also be used as store display furniture.
Size: H 203 (Top 94 + Bottom 109) x W 96 x D 48 cm

As it is an old item, there are minor scratches and signs of use throughout, but it is in good condition. The legs are sturdy and there is no wobbling or looseness.
However, as the drawers are vintage, you will need to pull and push both knobs evenly and straight.
Additionally, the brass escutcheon for the keyhole on one of the drawers has come off and is partially missing.
The key is present, but some locks are not functioning properly.
Update 2026/1/28
My cat scratched it, causing new damage.
We hope someone will appreciate this bureau with its history.

Shipping Method

We plan to ship via Packing and Shipping Tanomeru-bin (Yamato Transport's Raku-Raku Kazai Takkyubin).
This service includes professional packing, delivery to your designated room, unpacking, and removal of packing materials.
Delivery date and time can be specified (according to Yamato's regulations), and items can be held for a period.

* While delivery is generally to your desired installation location, hoisting work may be required if the item cannot fit through the entrance, elevator, or room.
Please note that any costs incurred for such work will be the customer's responsibility. Please confirm your delivery route in advance.

* Delivery is not available to Okinawa, remote islands, and some other areas.
Since there is no Kazai Takkyubin service center in Okinawa, delivery will be to the doorstep.

Due to my work, I occasionally travel on business. I will do my best to ship as quickly as possible, but depending on the timing, it may take a little longer.
Please contact me to discuss the details.
