Otagiri OMC Japanese Teapot Vintage Blue Flowers Rattan Handle Cottage-core MCM

This teapot is in good condition and has a protective removable piece over the spout which has ensured that there are no cracks or chips, and the new buyer can remove this for display or use. The gilded edges are bright and intact. The blue hand-painted characters under the glaze read 庫山窯 (Kozan Gama), which translates to Kozan Kiln. Kozan Gama is a highly regarded ceramic manufacturer located in the historic Mino pottery region of Japan, famous for producing fine porcelain decorated with delicate traditional motifs. The flower-shaped gold foil sticker is the Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) trademark label. OMC contracted directly with specialized regional kilns like Kozan Gama to produce high-end decorative giftware for export to boutique storefronts in the United States. This combination of the handwritten kiln mark alongside the intact foil export sticker dates the piece to the 1960s or 1970s.
