Edo Period Rare Beautiful Antique Mirror Japanese Mirror Bronze Crane Turtle Pine Design Tensho Izumo no Kami Final Price

Features a crane and pine design.

Tensho Izumo no Kami refers to Kazumasa Ishikawa, a samurai from the Sengoku to Azuchi-Momoyama periods. Kazumasa Ishikawa served as a retainer of Ieyasu Tokugawa and later served Toyotomi Hideyoshi. He achieved great success in many battles as Ieyasu Tokugawa's right-hand man, but suddenly defected from the Tokugawa family in Tensho 13 (1585) and became a retainer of Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi granted Kazumasa Ishikawa 80,000 koku in Kawachi Province and the title of Izumo no Kami. He was later transferred to Matsumoto in Shinano (present-day Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture) and built Matsumoto Castle.

There are various theories about the reason for his defection, but the exact reason is unknown. Theories include being impressed by Hideyoshi's capabilities or a deterioration of his position within the Tokugawa family.
