【Extremely Rare, Extra Large 120cm】Tsugaru Lacquerware (Kara-nuri) Low Table - The Pinnacle of Traditional "Baka-nuri" Craftsmanship

Thank you for viewing. This is an extra-large round table made with Karunuri, the pinnacle of Tsugaru lacquerware, a traditional craft of Aomori Prefecture.

■ The Charm of the Traditional Karunuri Technique and its Unique Patterns
Karunuri is an advanced technique where artisans create speckled patterns with a tool called shikake, and then repeatedly apply and polish lacquer.
- One-of-a-kind Patterns: The abstract patterns with depth created by the layers of lacquer are unique; no two are exactly alike. They reveal a jewel-like depth depending on the angle of the light.
- Over 40 Steps, 3-6 Months: Due to the immense number of steps and the dedication of the artisans, it is respectfully called baka-nuri (foolish lacquer).

■ Rarity and Fair Price of the Extra-Large Size
[Rare 120cm Size]

[Price Guide]
When purchasing a new table of the same size from a specialty store, it can range from 500,000 to over 1,000,000 yen, making it a top-tier piece of furniture. As this has been stored for a long time, it is offered at a very affordable price.

■ Product Condition
- Tabletop (Flat Surface): There are no noticeable large scratches, and the surface feels smooth to the touch. The lacquer patterns are beautifully preserved. There is minimal signs of use, and it is very stable with no wobbling.
- Sides and Legs: As this has been stored long-term at home, there are minor scratches from age on areas other than the flat surface. Please understand this as the charm of a vintage item.
- Gloss: Wiping with a damp cloth brings out the characteristic moist and deep gloss of lacquer.

■ Important Notes on Surface Treatment (Varnishing)
To maintain its beauty for a longer period, surface treatment such as varnishing is recommended. Please note the following:
- Professional Application Recommended: Due to its large size of 120cm, uneven application is likely if done by an individual, which could detract from its beauty. For the best finish, we recommend consulting a professional.
- If Applying Yourself: Apply thinly and evenly in a dust-free environment. Thick coats can cause unevenness.
