Vintage Carved Left Facing Blue Cameo Silver Ring Size 8

Beautiful vintage carved cameo ring featuring an unusual left-facing female profile in creamy ivory against a soft blue-gray ground. The cameo is beautifully detailed, with dimensional curls, flowing hair and delicate facial features.  Set in an ornate silver-colored setting with twisted rope detailing, raised bead accents and decorative shoulders. The substantial prong-set construction gives the ring wonderful old-world character.  The ring was purchased as sterling silver and the metal has produced a positive result with home silver acid testing; however, no sterling or 925 hallmark can currently be located. A magnet also shows attraction to portions of the upper setting. For that reason, the metal is being described conservatively as silver-colored / silver-content unverified rather than guaranteed sterling.  Approx. US ring size 8.  Estimated vintage c. 1930s–1950s.
