This is a TAMA STAR Reserve hand-hammered brass snare (14x5.5), from TAMA's highest-end series.
You can get this model, which originally retails in the high 120,000 yen range, at a great price.
Selling due to equipment consolidation.
Purchased new in 2020, used only a few times for studio practice and twice for live performances.
Due to open rim shots, there are thin dents and coating peeling on the batter-side hoop, but this does not affect playability at all (see photos).
Afterward, the original hoop was replaced with an aftermarket one, and the original hoop was stored in a humidity-controlled room.
The snare itself was also stored in a humidity-controlled room when not in use.
This is a very high-quality drum with limited distribution.
In addition to the thick sound and excellent projection characteristic of brass, it features rich overtones from hand-hammering, making it versatile for everything from ghost notes to rim shots. It's a sound suitable for both live performances and recording.
Compared to other brass snares, it's relatively easy to tune and very user-friendly.
The strainer operation, in particular, is exceptionally smooth.
